A Time to Let Go

The Bible relays there is a season for all things."There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity underheaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time touproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time tobuild, a time to weep and a time to laugh..." (Ecclesiastes 3:1-4)

As a people who cherish life and all its joyous splendors, we often tend tooverlook the inevitable tears and pains that also will be placed upon theroad of life. How we perceive our hurts, and what we chose to do with themonce they pass, is, however, all up to us. Will we allow pain and sufferingto overcome us, or will we reign victorious, allowing life's stings to helpus come to deeper levels of appreciation and understanding? One particular author whose name I can't recall, wrote that without sadnesswe would not know happiness, and without darkness, we would not know light. The author's point is that obstacles we may encounter in life can work FOR,rather than AGAINST us, if we allow them to.

In my own life, when there was a death amongst friends or relations, once thetears had dried, I allowed the death experience to teach me to betterappreciate my own life, even loved ones. Thus, I was able to, not onlyreevaluate what was godly or ungodly in my life, but I learned to show mylove better to those I truly loved. The same is true during periods I may come down with an illness. Once thesickness isover, I am just about ready to do handsprings over what a blessing it is tobe healthy and whole again!

The same is true with falling into sinful paths. Either we can learn and growfrom our mistakes of the past, or we can let them conquer and destroy us.

Somehow, we have fallen into the mindset that life's inevitable bumps are a"bad thing." Sickness, disease, sadness, pains, and hurts, are not "badthings," but merely "human things," part of the human condition.

Just as there is a time to fight and a time to rest, so too, is there a timeto let go of the often painful past. Not one of us is perfectly free fromsin, nor are we spared from life's up's and down's, thus, let us use themerciful gift God has given us, and let us take advantage of His peace andforgiveness!
