Fighting CleanlinessBathing my infant grandson was quite an ordeal. The experience never ransmoothly as I laid him on the counter for his bath. He would kick his legs, flail his arms and let out a squall. His little face would turn red as hecried...(I could imagine him saying- "I'm clean enough. Leave me alone!) Aftersoaping and rinsing I would wrap him in the hooded bath towel and hold himclose. What a precious time.. he smelled so sweet, babbled softly and wasall warm and cuddly. Sometimes adults receive a spiritual bath from the Lord. It may beginwith your thought patterns being altered or by something a friend may say toyou. The notion of change and cleansing may hit you from a few words in asermon or part of a song, but you know God is speaking to you. However thespiritual bath begins, more often than not- we fight it! We stomp our feetand think (or say) - " this action or thought pattern is not so bad; it'sbetter than most of the people I know! I'm fine just the way I am... leave mealone!" God knows when you are on the wrong path, and His desire is to cleanseyou. The cleaning process might not be pleasant, but when the issues at handare resolved and you ask for forgivenessand repent, God picks you up, wraps you in His most wonderful towel of loveand holds you. What a sweet and special time you share; a time of greatpersonal closeness as He tenderly embraces you. When I wrap and hold my grandson after his countertop bath, I willremember the warm and wonderful feeling I receive after my "spiritual" bath. I obtain closeness again - with the Lord.
