Ask and it Shall Be DeliveredThere was a man who worked for a mailing company. Every morning, he would hold a conference call with the boss. Twice a week, he would gather with co-workers in a special building. His boss was the most awesome employer in the world. He and the other workers tried to figure him out. You see, they never physically met the boss. The only thing they had was a working manual. They read it every day. Now the man delivered many packages and told many people about his boss. He influenced many people's decision to start working for the mailing company. After many years of living, the man was finally called to the main office to meet the boss face to face. When he walked into the room, he discovered a great many packages, all addressed to him. He asked, "Boss, why haven't you given me these great gifts?" The boss answered, "When you and the other workers talked to me, not once did you ask for these things. You do not have them because you did not ask for them." Sometimes we expect God to just drop our blessings out of apple trees. But it doesn't exactly work that way. In the Bible, in James 4:2, it says,"You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God." (NIV) The key to this passage is,"You do not have, because you do not ask God."When we want something, we ask God, and if it is His will, it will happen in His time. This is not just for "stuff," but for things like gifts and talents, kindness and patience-- means to serve our Creator-- and most importantly, for our salvation. If you need it, ask Him today.
