Looking Out The Wrong WindowMy wife was on an airplane flight not long ago, and she was sitting on the isle seat. And a mother was sittingnext to her in the middle, and a little 4-year old girl, of course the daughter of that mom was at the window. She had never flown before, so of course she wanted to be where she could see. As they taxied out on therunway, the little girl was kind of looking straight ahead like a little business woman, my wife Karen said. Andthen the plane went up through the clouds, and it was one of those cloud-covered days. Occasionally the littlegirl glanced out the window, but when they got above the clouds, all of a sudden she pressed her nose to theglass - she's looking intently all over, back and forth, and after a few minutes of inspecting the sky, she turnedto her mom and she said with real concern, "Where are they?" And her mom said, "What are you talkingabout?" She said, "I can't see them, mommy. Where are they?" And her mom said, "Where are what?" Shesaid, "The angels, mommy, where are the angels?" Oh, the poor little girl. She thought she knew where to findspiritual beings, but they weren't where she thought they would be. Now my wife watched a girl on a search for the spiritual. A girl whose search ended in disappointment. Nowshe's not the only one that's happened to. It may have happened to you. A lot of people are looking forspiritual reality - they're looking intently, and they just don't find it where they thought they would. And we lookout the window spiritually, but where is God . . . where is spiritual peace . . . where is eternal life . . . where isthe love I'm looking for? Well, Jesus answers that in our word for today from the Word of God in John 6,Verse 35. Jesus declared, "I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me will never go hungry, and hewho believes in Me will never be thirsty." Now Jesus is addressing something that is throbbing inside ofeach of us - this spiritual hunger and thirst. It is what the Bible calls eternity in our heart. Now I think you knowthat we need something spiritual to fill the hole in our heart. Maybe you would classify yourself as a spiritualseeker. You've lived long enough to know that earth stuff. And earth relationships just aren't enough tocomplete us. Jesus says, He is the end of your search. We're always seeking, we're never finding. Maybe in asense you have been looking out of a lot of spiritual windows hoping to find some peace and some reality.Maybe you have looked in Protestant religion or Catholic religion, or Jewish religion, or Moslem religion, ormaybe crystals, or horoscopes, psychic powers. Maybe you've checked out an unconventional spiritual groupthat maybe some would call a cult. So many windows to look through, but each view has ended upunsatisfying and disappointing. Now there are reasons why all the roads except the one that Jesus and His cross leave us hollow inside. It'sbecause what we really need is not spiritual experiences, or warm feelings, or beliefs, or even a caring group. We need to remove the sin that is blocking us from a relationship with our Creator. The sin wall, the Biblesays, in Isaiah 59:2 it talks about it this way, "Your sins have separated you from your God." Romans 5:8says, "But God proved His love for you in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Onlyone person can remove that wall, and it's Jesus. Are you tired of looking out of the window for spiritual reality and coming up disappointed? Where is God?Where is the love and peace I need from Him? Well, it begins at the cross, where you say those two wordswith all your heart - for me . If you want to know this Jesus, will you write to me, and let me send you somethings that will help you nail down that relationship. We will give you the address in a minute . . . because areligion won't do it for you, or an experience, or a group. You are looking for a love relationship with the oneyou were made by, and made for. Why don't you look His way? Jesus is everything your heart has everlooked for.
